Black and Hibler Win IGA Mixed 29 For the First Time
Sunday, October 15, 2017 River Birch Golf Course was in prime condition to host the IGA Mixed 29 Championship. The Mixed-29 is couples (boy-girl, thus the term “mixed”), foursomes/alternate shot format (covered by Rule 29 in the Rules of Golf). Which gives us the name of the competition, “Mixed-29.”
The start of the day was clear and chilly which caused a one hour frost delay. The delay did not dampen the mood and it turned into a beautiful fall day, perfect for the IGA’s final competition of the 2017 season.
Abby Black and Jesse Hibler, both members at The Club at SpurWing teamed up to win the Mixed-29 Championship with the only under par score of the day (72). Black is fresh off a second place finish at the IGA’s Tournament of Champions last weekend and was member of Team Idaho at the 2017 USGA Women’s State Team competition. A highlight of Hibler’s season was membership on Team Idaho for the 2017 PNGA Cup matches which Idaho won for the first time in the 12 year history of the competition. Lori Ruiz and Jeremy Branch posted the 2nd place score, three strokes back at 75.
The 1st flight was won by Cheri and Trent Stimpson firing a nifty 77. Judi Branch and Alex Calinsky claimed the 1st net prize in the 1st Flight posting a net 69.
