Darrington Grabs Third Straight Mid-Am

CALDWELL- With three past champions in the field of the Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship the players knew they would have to perform to come away with the title. Karen Darrington came into the final round with a two-shot lead above Kareen Markle. Darrington was not quick out of the gate in the second and final round of the championship, tallying a six-over 42. With Markle shooting 40 on the front the two past champions were tied going into the back nine. The two both went two-over on holes ten through seventeen. With the championship on the line on the eighteenth hole Markle was able to make a par. But, Darrington was able birdie the par four to seal her third straight victory of the championship. Darrington’s three titles ties Markle for the most in championship history. For the full results of the championship visit the tournament page HERE.
