Rules of Golf Modernization Project

Most of you are probably aware that on March 1, the USGA and R&A released the proposed changes to the Rules of Golf that will go into effect January 1, 2019.

To download a copy of the proposed changes or learn more about the Rules modernization project CLICK HERE .

The IGA office has received numerous questions about the proposed Rules changes. If you would like to provide feedback to the USGA about the proposed changes, take the USGA’s FEEDBACK SURVEY or you may send comments to rules@usga.org. The USGA and R&A are taking comments until the end of August, 2017. Comments will then be analyzed and the changes finalized. The Rules Committees of the USGA and R&A will then take all of 2018 to finalize the Rules Book, the Rules Handbook (formerly known as the Decisions book) and all audio visual materials.

There will be major changes to the Rules, with this modernization. However, it won’t change how the game is played. Just remember these changes won’t go into effect until January 1, 2019.
