Lampson’s Steady Play Continues
KUNA- Moving day has come and gone at Falcon Crest Golf Course for the Idaho State Amateur Championship. But one competitor who stayed where he began the day is Trevor Lampson. The California Baptist University student-athlete paired his first round 67 with an identical total on the second day, sitting at -10 with eighteen holes to play. It appears everything is clicking in Lampson’s game once he reaches hole number two, with a combined three over on the first hole. Lampson took a double on one today but quickly bounced back with a birdie on two and was off to the races. Lampson will be looking to go wire-to-wire tomorrow, but a packed leaderboard behind him follows.
Lampson’s 67 was the low score of the day but was matched by Skyler Eubank, who trails Lampson by two shots in the championship. Eubank turned in a clean bogey-free card for the second round. Tied in second with Skyler Eubank is Hunter Ostrom who has put together a pair of 68’s in the first round of the championship. Jesse Hibler who began the day tied for the lead but after shooting one-under 71 Hibler slid down the leaderboard to fourth, where he is just four shots back of Lampson.
As for the Stanwood Cup, a close battle between SpurWing and the home club Falcon Crest ended with a one stroke victory for Spurwing. The club captured the title with team of Hunter Ostrom, Jesse Hibler, and Josh Gliege shooting a team score of 274. This is the first time SpurWing has hoisted the cup since 2010.
