Remembering Bob Saxvik, past President of the IGA
Robert W Saxvik passed away October 18, 2016 at his home in Portland, OR. Bob served on the first Board of Directors of the Idaho Golf Association which was established in 1969. Saxvik represented District 2, living in Burley at the time working as vice president and general manager of KBAR Radio. He went on to serve as President of the IGA board. Bob was an advocate of junior golf and through the late 1970’s served as captain of Idaho’s Hogan Cup team.
Bob served three terms in the Idaho State Senate (1971-1976). He joined the staff of Idaho Governor John V. Evans from 1978-1981. Following his political career, he represented Idaho on the Northwest Power Planning Council formed in 1981, becoming the Council’s Chairman in 1986 and Vice-Chair for three years. Saxvik retired in 1996 and moved to Portland, Oregon in 2002.
